This piece was an experiment in extracting an orchestral sound into a smaller ensemble and mixing it with glitch rhythms and groovy drums. I am a fervent follower when it comes to hearing Michał play.
I hope You will enjoy it as much as we did.
Who wouldn't want to improvise on the familiar theme from the video consoles?

They say that people are not ready for this yet. Are they?
Let Tunisia meet some string quartet music. This is my arrangement adding a string quartet commisioned by Amine and Hamza, very talented oud and kanun virtuosos, and nice folks when it comes to meeting them in person. We had some good time recording the album this track will be a part of, and I hope people will be ready to hear it when we will tour with the band :)
I was confronted with four adorable female cello players saying - "You need to write something for us as quickly as possible - unless You want to hear us playing Pink Panther again". You know that there are such particular situations when a man cannot say "No". Luckily the piece had to be 1'30'' long so it took me an hour to write, and after copying the parts by hand (like using flint to make fire) we started rehearsing. The band is called the Cello Girls.

First, introducting moments of our concert in Hipnoza Jazz Club in Katowice. A free improv with Piotr Toruński

Recorded during Stryjo concert in Hipnoza in Katowice. Featuring Piotr Toruński on bass clarinet.
Stryjo :
A totally improvised set played while talking to friends about what piece I'm going to compose on top of this programming for the Nikola Kołodziejczyk Orchestra, and triggering and evolving the macros.
It's more a proof of concept that I can control MIDI sequences that solely affect parameters of effects applied to a sound by recording and looping dummy midi clips that i can trigger afterwards in a desirable place in a piece that is being developed in real time. The dummy midi clips then act as a kind of organic arpeggiator input that i can control very closely live.
More musical material is expected to be based on this bare track as i will add acoudtic drums, soprano saxophone, bass, flute, bass clarinet and vibraphone to this and a little of composition.
This is what happens when You join forces of Tunisian and European feel. A new rendition of the M'Raihi's song this time with my arrangement with added string quartet and piano.

One of the highlights of the Joe Zawinul & Michael Brecker Tribute Days apart of the great workshop with Jim Beard was our tribute concert. In this video we improvise on the topic of Joe Zawinul, involving themes from Elegant People by Wayne Shorter, fragments of interviews, a Waldorf Blofeld synth, some controllers, a drumset and two laptop computers. I am planning on developing a project that further integrates live electronics into my musical workflow. read more »
